Kortebin Éowyn

My name is Tootals.My name is Tootals. I am a basset hound from England.

Look at my long ears!I have long ears.

The East Riding of Yorkshire.I was born at Trish and Colin Wells’ kennel, Kortebin Bassets, on March 9th, 1999, in the Wolds, in Catwick, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. “Riding” has nothing to do with horses or motorcars. It is an old Norse word for “third.” And “Kortebin,” another old Norse word, means “short-legged.” My name at The Kennel Club is Kortebin Éowyn Éowyn battles the Lord of the Nazgûl., Registration Number Z2712403Z03. I have the same name with the American Kennel Club, Registration Number HM 84834001.

Siouxline Joshua.My dad is Sue Ergis’ Champion Siouxline Joshua. Joshua was judged Best of Breed at Crufts®2001.

My grandfather is the Storton’s Dereheath Jailhouse Rock Around Siouxline. Jailhouse Rock was fourth in the Basset Hound Limit Dog class at Crufts®99. My mother is the Wells’ Kortebin My Precious, or “Star.”

Broad Girl.This is my sister, Broad Girl, and Colin Wells, at The Northern Dog Centre Top Puppy Competition, held at Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, on November 27th, 1999. This was a ‘posh do.’ Broad Girl represented the Hull and East Riding Canine Society at this event.

Here is my pedigree, in Adobe® Acrobat® PDF file format. You’ll need a copy of the free Adobe® Acrobat® Reader application software to view, navigate, and print this file. Likely many of you have already installed Adobe® Acrobat® Reader. If not, click on the icon to download your free copy of Adobe® Acrobat® Reader from Adobe Systems, Incorporated. Get Acrobat® Reader. It turns out that I have American ancestors, the Tal-E-Ho dogs from four and five generations ago. Tal-E-Ho Bassets at West Islip, New York have produced many champions, first among them American and Canadian Champion Tal-E-Ho’s Prancer.

Shaking off jet lag.Here I am shaking off jet lag after rounding Cape Farewell, Greenland on Delta 139 from Manchester to JFK, a 7-hour flight spanning 5 time zones.

They’re driving on the wrong side!They’re going to drive on the wrong side of the Motorway!

Here I am at the beach.Now I’m in Cherry Grove (North Myrtle Beach), South Carolina.

This is me with my people Grandpa.I love my people Grandpa!

Chewing my rawhide bone.When I lived in Catwick, I helped my sisters find the “no you don'ts.” Now my sisters are on their own, and the big people give me rawhide bones.

Deep contemplation.Rawhide bones aren’t as interesting as the “no you don'ts,” but at least I have more time for contemplation.

This is my quacking duck.This is my quacking duck.

Love my duck.I love my duck.

This is “J.R.”.Here’s my people Grandpa’s miniature dachshund, “J.R.”

Running on the beach.Running on the beach.

I love the beach.I love the beach.

Tootals running on the beach.That’s all for now! More later.

Tootals

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
